NEW COURTS & NEW FLOODLIGHTS:
This is an exciting time for Thirsk Tennis Club as we start the 2011 season with new all weather artificial grass courts and improved floodlighting.
Subscriptions for 2011-2012:
Subscriptions continue to be held at 2007 levels if paid by 19th April. On Tuesday 22nd and 29th March Wendy and other committee members will be at the tennis pavilion to collect subscriptions and exchange keys.
If you’re unable to make those dates please send a cheque payable to Thirsk Tennis Club to Wendy Bennett. –see address on enclosed subscription form.
Floodlit League:
The Thirsk Floodlit League got off to a good start in the autumn, but ran into difficulties with the cold spell at the end of the year. Fixtures are back on track, with a few matches still to be rearanged because of rain postponements. Once again the league has provided many Thirsk members (and our loyal 'visiting' teams) with enjoyable and good quality tennis throughout the autumn and winter. Thanks to Jane Graham for her great work in keeping the league going, with all the extra emails and phone calls that the bad weather entailed.
Club Night:
Tuesday evening club sessions (juniors by invitation) start at 7pm and continue to be well attended. The snowy weather in Nov/Dec caused a brief hiatus but normal activity has now resumed both on the courts and in the clubhouse afterwards. Balls are provided and this is a great opportunity to meet other players and make new friends. Thanks to Trevor for continuing to organise these enjoyable well attended evenings.
Regular Coaching Sessions:
Coaching starts for beginners/improvers with Ralph Windwood on Monday evenings at 7 to 8pm from May 2nd. Further sessions for more experienced/team players will begin on 20th June.
Adult individual/small group coaching with Di West restarts on Wednesdays from 16th March.
Mary Rose is continuing with her popular coaching for 4-14 year olds on 16th May. Coaching can be arranged for all standards of play.

Christmas Dinner at the Goplden Fleece: Friday 2nd December 2011
The Tennis Christmas Dinner was again held at the Golden Fleece where we enjoyed a lovely meal, a good chat and some energetic dancing. This year the Christmas Dinner will be on Friday 2nd December so come and join us for a great night out.
Wimbledon Tickets:
Wimbledon ticket draw will be held 9.30pm Tuesday 26th April in the clubhouse. To be eligible you must be both a full member of Thirsk Tennis Club and a British Tennis member (joining British Tennis is free to Thirsk Tennis Club members). See the notice board in early April for our ticket allocation.
Junior Members:
Junior club sessions have moved back to the more popular Saturday mornings! Starting on 7th May they run through the summer from 10 to 11am. They are kindly organised, free to club junior members, by David James (tel 01845 523814). Parents of junior members who are willing to help would be greatly appreciated.
